West Midlands Vegan Festival 2015 - Wolverhampton, October 26th, 2015

By Shari Black Velvet

This time last year, the West Midlands Vegan Festival 2014 was done and dusted. But in 2015, we're only halfway there. Why? Because 2015 saw the first two day West Midlands Vegan Festival. Yes, the festival took place on both Saturday October 25th and Sunday October 26th. We decided to head over to Wolverhampton on the second day, the Sunday and were happy to discover that it was still busy, with loads of eager visitors, lots of stalls to peruse and talks, demos and performers to see. Sponsored by Moo Free Chocolates along with The Vegan Society, The Vegan Store, Pulsin, VegfestUK, Dean Farm Trust and Animal Aid, the festival was still the bargain price of only £1 to enter. Opening at 10am, there were demonstrations on how to make vegan cheese and making raw lasagne, talks ranging from 'Grouse Shooting: The End Of An Era? by Luke Steele to Practical Vegan by Dean Bracher. There was a range of alternative therapy and tarot card readings up in the balcony while the kids got to play on the bouncy castle outside - and make their own smoothies riding the Greenape Pedal Powered Smoothie bike. It was hard to know which stall to buy vegan cupcakes from as there was quite a choice, and the usual animal welfare organisations were on hand with their merchandise and other items to purchase. You could also sample various delights - from chocolate to VBites meaty alternatives. We came home with cakes, Christmas cards, magnets, a book and more! And if you filled in the Questionnaire at the door you also got a free gift - we chose the Vivani White Nougat Crisp chocolate bar. Nice!
