Save A Scream is a concept of Shari Black Velvet. Shari is the editor of Black Velvet (see www.blackvelvetmagazine.com). Shari gave up eating meat 30 years ago when it was brought to her attention that we didn't need to eat meat to survive and that it was cruel to do so. Shari then became vegan in October 2002 and has lived a cruelty-free life ever since. While writing and editing Black Velvet Shari was always happy to interview vegan and vegetarian musicians and decided that it would be good to branch out and thus Save A Scream was been born.

We hope that by reading Save A Scream you will be inspired to try to save a scream. A scream being that of any animal that is abused or hurt in any way - whether it be killed for food, murdered for its fur, tortured in a laboratory in the fraudulent name of 'science' (when there are many humane testing methods available that are more efficient and will save more human and animal lives) - or any other scream an animal may emit. If just one person thinks a little more about trying to stop the animal cruelty that goes on in the world, our mission will be accomplished. We hope you will be that person.
